Doing a Scatto tour is a challenge for anybody. Getting ready will take time and commitment. It is very important that you train and get ready for your Scatto tour. We want you to enjoy your Scatto tour and not get back home and think that the trip was an ordeal. At Scatto we want to do everything to be sure the trip runs smoothly but training is the one thing you will have do yourself.
Mileage
The main thing in your training is to do long rides. During a Scatto Tour you will ride from 9 am to 5pm....for SIX or more days in row !! Your body needs to be prepared for these efforts. We strongly recommend you do back to back long rides (100 + km) so that your body gets used to riding these distances.
Tiredness
You will inevitably get tired during the tour. Here are some pointers on how to keep riding:
increase blood flow to the tired muscles
massage
hot baths
compression tights, etc.
Stay hydrated
Stay well fed - not hard in Italy!
Sleep well each night
Motivation
Getting ready for your Scatto Tour will be a good motivator but at times you might need something extra:
sign-up or join a local cycling club that organises group rides
do a Century or Gran Fondo ride
set long and short term goals
record all your rides with services such as Strava and join the Scatto Club to share your rides with other guests and see how they are preparing for their trip
Get a Coach!!
Are you not sure what is required to be ready for a Scatto Tour? Do have limited time to train? Do not want to have to think about how to train? Maybe you should consider getting in contact with a professional coach that can develop a specific training plan that is based on your schedule and what Scatto tour you plan on attending. Furthermore, having a coach following you will also give you extra motivation to train!!
We have partnered with Race Ready Coaching as they have vast experience and know our tours and how best to prepare for them. They have a specific program for endurance cycling and create a training program built around your athletic background, life schedule and endurance performance goals.
If you hare interested, please get in contact with Jared Berg at [email protected]. They have reserved some special rates just for Scatto Bike Tour guests!
HOW THIS WORKS?
Your coach will design a program in a 1-week or 2-week interval. You decide how often you need your schedule updated.
Schedules will be customized based your feedback, training results, time constraints, and up-coming events.
When applicable, you and your coach will analyze pace, power and heart rate metrics that you collect. This data will be used to dial in your workouts and set new goals.
Your coach will consult with you on all aspects of nutrition (race and daily), race strategy, equipment choices, functional strength, and recovery concerns.
Communication with your coach is key! 1 on 1 coaching utilizes our online training platform, email, phone-calls and text messaging to ensure you get the most out of your training experience.
